The Feather Man

The Feather Man, originally uploaded by elefanterosado.

I’d just shot a chess-playing flim-flammer with dollar signs for eyes. Yeah, I could shoot him (he acknowledged ungraciously), but “you gotta toss a dollar in the pot.” So I did. And the shot was crap. I should’ve demanded my buck back.

But walking down the street a ways I encountered the long back of a very tall man clad in…fur? Well, who could tell? But he turned around and regarded me with an almost regal expression for someone so bizarrely attired.

And bogarding one of those itty bitty cigars. Like the movie cameras were about to roll.

So I asked him (maybe a little timidly): “Can I take your picture?”

He considered. “No one has ever asked me that before,” said he. Straight faced.

But then he cracked a smile.

“No, just kidding. I get asked all the time. Of course you can, my dear.”

They got manners in New York.

Somewhere in Manhattan.
